What is eSim?
eSIM is an electronic SIM card built into your smartphone. «E» stands for
«embedded». The SIM card is without a chip and plastic. All information is stored directly on the mobile device itself and downloaded to it remotely.
This is an excellent solution for travelers and subscribers traveling abroad on business trips who do not want to spend money on roaming. It is much more convenient for such users to buy an eSIM in an online store and immediately download its profile to their smartphone, without wasting time for buying a local SIM card in a foreign land, especially if they do not speak the language.

What is the difference between an eSIM and a regular SIM card?

What devices support eSIM?
Not all mobile devices allow you to download and use eSIM.
Devices with an eSIM and a physical SIM card slot can simultaneously work with two SIM cards: a physical one and an embedded eSIM.

If your device is on this list, you can take full advantage of eSimtravel on your next trip abroad. The only thing you need to do is make sure that it has an eSIM compatible version of iOS 12.1 or higher.
You can check the version through Settings > General > Software Update.
In the same section, you can update iOS if the version is lower than required.
Rates

How to install eSIM (Download eSIM to device)?
eSIM does not need to be physically installed on the smartphone. For the initial download of the eSIM profile, the device (smartphone or tablet) must have an active Wi-Fi Internet connection or through a mobile network.
1. Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Add Data Plan. The camera of the device will turn on, waiting for the QR code to download eSIM
2. Point the camera at the QR code. (Important! You can download the code only once to one phone). See example below.
Important! To read a QR code, you need to open it on another device, display it on the screen, or print it). I.e. the QR code cannot be read from the screen of the same device on which the eSIM profile is installed!
3. Click the Add cellular plan button
4. eSIM will be installed on your phone
5. The phone will ask you to select a name for the eSIM card. By default, the device offers the name “Secondary”
6. Next, you will be prompted to select which SIM card to set as primary by defaultChoose eSIM for DATA connection.

One eSIM profile can be downloaded only to one device. For security reasons it is not possible to subsequently bind the same eSIM with another device, even after deleting it from the first device. One eSIM can be removed and downloaded to the same device up to 10 times.
With eSIM you are completely safe: no one can take your SIM card and insert it into another phone, as it was before.

Can I call with eSimtravel?
Unlike other services, with eSimtravel you can access not only high-speed Internet, but also calls and SMS.
All outgoing calls are made only in international format, even if you make a local call in the host country.

Standard dialing:
Dial the number of the called subscriber in international format on your smartphone and press the call button. The phone will display the message “Wait for call”. In a few seconds your phone will receive an incoming call. Accept the call, wait for the subscriber to answer and talk.
How many eSIM cards can I install?
The maximum number of eSIM cards installed on one smartphone depends on themanufacturer. Please check the manufacturer's website for up-to-date information. However, only one eSIM can always be active.
How to refill eSimtravel balance?
After purchasing eSimtravel, you will receive an e-mail message to the specified address with information about the eSIM number and a QR code for setting a profile. This number must be entered in the balance refilling section (link to the refilling block) and pay by credit card.The eSimtravel number can also be obtained using the service command *146*099# call.
Initial loading of eSIM profile does not work. Potential problems with eSIM and their solutions.
If the following message appears on the screen of the mobile device:
“Unable to Complete Data Plan Change. Your data plan could not be set up. Try again later”
Possible solutions:
1. Error installing the profile. If the eSIM is installed via a QR code, you should double-check that the instructions have been followed (see section Loading the eSIM into the device).
2. There is no Internet connection. Check for a Wi-Fi connection or access to the mobile operator's network, check Internet access in the browser, and then try to download the eSIM again.
3. Incompatible device model or old operating system version. Check device compatibility and operating system version.
